Can termites do damage and live in steel frame homes?

This is a question that i get asked a lot.

The answer is yes, although the steel section of the house will be protected,  timber is still used within the property, what most people forget is that door jambs, skirting boards, flooring and decorative timber trims are evident throughout steel frame homes and termites can even damage timber furnishings within a steel frame structure.

Remember that steel frame homes are not termite proof but are termite resistant which means they can not eat or destroy the main steel structure of the building but can damage the timber products within the property ,the backing on Gyprock (plasterboard) walls, skirting boards, doors, kitchen cupboards etc.
